The inaugural edition of the VOICE Talk Show was successfully held virtually via Zoom on October 1st, from 7:10 PM to 7:40 PM, bringing together young Nigerians to discuss issues of social change, justice, and activism. This event marks the launch of a transformative new platform designed to amplify youth voices and inspire advocacy for societal improvement across the country.
The Keynote Speaker, ace broadcaster and youth coach Joyce Daniels, joined from Port Harcourt and delivered a powerful message. Daniels encouraged young people to realize that their voices are not just “two cents” but their right, which they must actively use to demand change. She commended the vision behind VOICE and expressed her joy in contributing to the movement by empowering the youth.
Miss Rafah Musa, a youth coach and English teacher from Warri, Delta State, spoke passionately about youth engagement. She urged young Nigerians to equip themselves with functional life skills and vocational training in addition to formal education, enabling them to meet modern-day challenges effectively. Miss Providence Agbabhon, a nurse from Benin City, emphasized the power of youth voices, urging young people to step up and make themselves heard to influence positive change.
The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including Mr. Andy Egbon, Edo State Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and Mr. Bright Paul from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Benin. The program was technically supported by GIVITEC LTD, ensuring a seamless and hitch-free experience.
Mr. Gbenga, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Benin, anchored the show with enthusiasm and poise.
Saintmoses Eromosele, a prolific author, rights activist, community organizer, and the Founder and Director General of VOICE, shared his vision for creating this initiative. Eromosele explained that VOICE was conceived as a platform to empower young Nigerians and elevate their concerns, ensuring they contribute meaningfully to shaping society.
The next VOICE Talk Show is planned as a physical event at the University of Benin in November, with the specific date and venue to be announced shortly. Going forward, VOICE will continue to hold monthly events, moving across different university campuses to foster dialogue and youth activism throughout Nigeria.
The successful launch of VOICE represents a significant step toward creating a stronger platform for youth involvement, leadership, and social justice in Nigeria.
