Dr Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate for the Edo State September election, has said that the return to the Oba of Benin of the Benin Royal stools looted by Britain and kept in Germany for over a hundred years ago, marks the restoration of the glory of Benin Kingdom, and the Edo Nation.

In a message personally written by Dr Ighodalo to the Oba of Benin, made available to newsmen in Benin, the Edo PDP gubernatorial candidate congratulated His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpa, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, and the entire citizens of Edo State, on the repatriation of two very significant royal stools from Germany.

Ighodalo said the repatriation of the highly treasured royal stools back to their roots signifies the restoration of Edo cultural heritage as well as the acknowledgement of the Great Benin Kingdom in the artistic world.
