In a stunning revelation, it has been discovered that Monday Okpebholo, the gubernatorial candidate representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2024 Edo State Gubernatorial election, does not have his name listed on the official register of voters maintained by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A thorough check on the INEC portal has revealed that there is no record of a voter named Monday Okpebholo, raising serious concerns about his eligibility to run for the esteemed position of governor in Edo State.

According to provisions in the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), candidates vying for electoral positions must meet certain eligibility criteria, including being registered voters in the state where they seek to contest. Failure to fulfill this requirement could lead to disqualification from the electoral race.

As the situation unfolds, questions loom over the fate of Monday Okpebholo’s candidacy and the potential implications for the APC’s campaign in the state.

Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.

It’s of no issue, as the Supreme Court has settled that in Peter Obi vs INEC, ApC, Tinubu in 2023. Obi’s name was not in the LP register, as he defected to LP a few days to its primary, in breach of Electoral Act that mandates not less than 30 days. But the Supreme Court ruled on LP had power to say if Obi was Its candidate, and not any other person or body, not even the courts, which lack that jurisdiction.
