Reading the ejaculatory reactions to the recent high court judgment regarding the PDP Party primary that presented Dr. Asue Ighodalo, one thing becomes abundantly evident: the APC is plagued by nightmares at the imminent prospect of their resounding defeat by the PDP on September 21. Their premature celebration of an ordinary high court judgment purporting to invalidate the primary, despite a previous high court validation, reveals their desperation. It must be noted that any decision at the high court level concerning state gubernatorial elections will ultimately have to navigate through the Court of Appeal and possibly the Supreme Court. Therefore, it is akin to premature ejaculation for the APC to rejoice over a matter that does not even ruffle the PDP.
The PDP Chairman has assured the public that Dr. Asue Ighodalo remains the PDP candidate, dismissing the APC’s attempts to mislead with baseless narratives as futile. The public will not be swayed by the APC’s cheap tactics aimed at securing an easy win in a serious election.
My advice to the APC is to concentrate on their candidate, urging him to engage with the people and participate in debates. Although it is well-known that every public appearance seems to cost him 10,000 votes, facing the electorate is a necessary part of the democratic process.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo is poised to win the Edo 2024 election in an unprecedented landslide. The APC’s influence in Edo State will diminish significantly, much like Tinubu’s fuel subsidy, becoming a relic of the past.
In conclusion, the APC should reconsider their early jubilation and focus on genuine campaign efforts. The political landscape of Edo State is changing, and the PDP, with Dr. Ighodalo at the helm, is set to lead this transformation to victory.
