The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has verified that Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Edo State, possesses an authentic Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). This confirmation arose during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where INEC addressed a lawsuit brought by a rival PDP aspirant who lost in the party’s primary election and contested Ighodalo’s candidacy.
The suit alleged that Ighodalo’s PVC was fraudulent. However, INEC countered with documentary evidence and a witness from their staff, establishing that Ighodalo’s registration details are correctly listed on the commission’s voter registration portal. His information is recorded under the Idirio Primary School Polling Unit, Ewohimi Ward 1, Esan South East Local Government Area in Edo State. The gubernatorial election is scheduled for September 21st.
