The recent video showing Philip Shaibu and Jarret Tenebe, both from Etsako in the Edo North District, celebrating the removal of our Akoko-Edo Deputy Governor, Omobayo, is deeply disappointing and provocative. For years, Akoko-Edo has supported Etsako to secure political power in Edo North, only to be consistently denied significant positions in return.

Governor Godwin Obaseki’s appointment of an Akoko-Edo man as Deputy Governor was a bold step towards addressing these historical injustices. In contrast, Philip Shaibu, having left the PDP and knowing he no longer stands a chance to be Deputy Governor, is now creating problems for Akoko-Edo’s opportunity to enjoy a position that Etsako has consistently monopolized.

This blatant disrespect is unacceptable. We call on all Akoko-Edo people to immediately sever political ties with the Etsako and team up with the rest of Edo State to safeguard our political future and existence.
